JOB TITLE: Rooms Preventative Maintenace

DEPARTMENT: Engineering  

DIRECT REPORT: Chief Engineer 

 

FUNCTION: 

Responsible for performing general maintenance work to ensure hotel maintenance quality standards are achieved and maintained.  

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ensures complete guest satisfaction. Treats guests in friendly and helpful manner. 
  • Maintains all company standards and follow-up on inspection deficiencies. 
  • Investigates and satisfies guest complaints.  
  • Responds in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction. All guest’s requests should be responded to within 15 minutes. 
  • Assists with public area preventative maintenance and completing work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl etc. to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality to standard. 
  • Services the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters, completing maintenance request forms and record logs. 
  • Assists in monitoring hotel systems such as air conditioning controls, elevators, television sets, lighting systems. 
  • Assists in checking and making minor repairs on general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipelines, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment.  
  • In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions as instructed by supervisor.  Maintain inventory of supplies.  Report major repairs and items that cannot be repaired to your supervisor for further action and if necessary place a room out of order.  
  • Maintains all company standards and follow-up on inspection deficiencies. 
  • Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act upon each accordingly; be willing and able to comply with hotel policies and procedures including appearance and grooming, safety, security, key control and emergency procedures. 
  • Must be willing and able to be responsive to complaints about maintenance and be willing and able to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player. 
  • Maintains the building exterior and curb appeal for snow removal, lawn care, painting, and other gardening. 
  • Maintains all Winston Hospitality standards and follow-up on inspection deficiencies. 
  • Investigates and satisfies guest complaints. 
  • Ensures that Quality Standards and Service are maintained for Property, Product, and People. 
  • Must be able to work PM shift. 
  • Supports established policies and procedures for Winston Hospitality. Practices the Winston Hospitality service culture and ensures all expectations are implemented and regularly practiced. 
  • Supports hotel’s training needs and efforts. 
  • Assists in conducting the departmental operational audits and assists in developing corrective action plans.  
  • Due to the nature of the business the individual may be required to do other duties and special projects as assigned. 
  • Responsible for performing “other duties” as assigned by management. 

 

 

 

SKILLS & TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE: 

 

  • Must have 1-3 years general maintenance experience. 
  • Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act upon each immediately. 
  • Must have thorough knowledge of all operating departments including rooms, front office, housekeeping, engineering, accounting, sales, food and beverage.   
  • The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.  
  • Knowledge of all maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, painting and carpentry.  
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment.  
  • Working knowledge of basic hand and power tools.  
  • Basic English language communication and mathematical skills in order to communicate with co-workers fully comprehend job assignments and perform accurate simple arithmetic functions.  

 

Salary17.00 - 19.00 Hour
